Triton manufactures several versions of it's patented Ultrasonic Transit
Time Volume Flowmeters. These are true
volume flowmeters which measure flow in
units of milliliters per minute or liters per minute. These flowmeters are
packaged to fit specific applications and some are compatible with our System 6
and CBI System modular
physiology instrumentation families.
2-Channel
Flowmeter - CBI System
The new Model 200-210 - Dual Channel Volume Flowmeter
introduces several major improvements in the of
area of accurate measurement of volume
blood flow. The Dual Channel Volume Flowmeter is available in three
configurations: two large vessel flowmeters (6 to 29mm), two small vessel flowmeters
(1 to 6.5mm) or as one large
and one small flowmeter. The Dual flowmeters units packaged
as a compact, light-weight, portable unit with a
carrying handle on top. The
unit can readily be carried from lab to lab and it operates from all international line
voltages and frequencies.
The Dual Flowmeter, which operates on ultrasonic transit-time principles, utilizes a
patented technique of biased
insonication and active re-direction of ultrasound to measure
blood flow in experimental animals. Biased
insonication coupled with ARTT
(Active Redirection Transit Time) technology provides an accurate measure of
volume blood
flow.
Large Vessel Volume Flowmeter
Model 306 Large Vessel flow cuffs ARTT (ARTē)
Model 307 Large Vessel flow "C" ARTT ( ARTē)
The Large Vessel Flowmeter is based on Triton's patented Active Redirection - "X
probe." The new probe, which
works exclusively with the ARTT Flowmeter module,
was developed to correct the difficulties of size, weight and
signal strength commonly
found with existing probe designs. Active Redirection permits an ultrasonic signal to be
transmitted and re-transmitted in an "X" path across a vessel. It is this
extended transmission path which provides
higher 'gain' and better resolution with a
shorter, more compact probe then previously possible. In comparison,
existing probes,
which use single path or reflecting double path designs, have not been able to achieve
this degree of
compactness and ease of implantation. Further reduction in probe mass is
achieved through the use of
micro-machined Ultem probe bodies. This material is extremely
strong and lightweight, and complies with US
Pharmacopoeia Class VI biocompatibility
requirements .
The Large Vessel Flowmeter probe sizes are available to fit blood vessels from 6
to 29 mm in diameter. The
probes provide a snug fit, insuring excellent sound coupling in
both acute and chronic preparations. Moreover, the
smooth precision machined surfaces of
the cuff eliminate the risk of vessel erosion in long-term chronic
preparations. Many users have reported Cardiac Output from the
Pulmonary Artery and Aorta working
perfectly for periods of up to 2
years! Specialized in-line transducers are available for monitoring fluid
flow in
extracorporeal perfusion lines.
Calibration for both the implantable and extracorporeal transducers is achieved by
precision delay lines and digital
look-up tables in the internal circuitry. The Large
Vessel Volume flowmeter automatically detects the type and size
of probe attached to
itself digital and generates a series of voltages directly proportional to blood flow
displayed on
its large LCD panel.
Small Vessel Volume Flowmeter
Model 367 Small Vessel flow probes
The Small Vessel Transit Time Flowmeter is an extension of the highly successful ARTē
flowmeter for volume blood
flow measurement. The Small Vessel Flowmeter and probes are
designed to work on smaller vessels ( 1 to 6.5mm),
in large or small experimental
preparations. The probes are designed for either acute or chronic preparations. A
number
of these probes have been functioning on renal arteries for up to two
years and and on coronary arteries
for over 14 months.
The for the Small Vessel Transit Time Flowmeter
utilize a reflected sound path in order to place both
transducer elements on the same side
of the vessel. This has the advantage of allowing the probe to be placed on a
partially
imbedded vessel without crimping or occluding the vessel. An example of this would be a
coronary artery
lying in a groove on the myocardial surface. Since only the reflector must
pas under the vessel, the probe may be
applied without crimping or deforming the vessel.
The Small Vessel Flowmeter probes are molded from a bio-compatible epoxy resin that has
been loaded with glass
micro-balloons. The result is a very light weight probe which is
well tolerated in chronic preparations. The Small
Vessel Flowmeter is presently available
for blood vessels of 2 to 6.5 mm.
The Small Vessel Flowmeter automatically detects the size of the flowprobe which is
attached and changes internal
timing and gain circuits to achieve a calibrated output
voltage for subsequent recording or data acquisition.
A large front panel display on the Small Vessel Volume Flowmeter serves several
functions. A running average
MEAN FLOW is displayed while in the RUN mode. If, however,
the SIZE button is pressed while in the RUN
mode, the probe size is displayed. This is a
helpful feature in a chronic preparations. In the CALIB mode the
display shows the
calibrate value. This should agree with the RUN/CALIB switch verifying proper operation.
The Triton Technology TwinPak - Model
200-198 can be used as a housing for either of the Transit Time Volume
flowmeters (Model 200-206 or 200-257).
The resulting flowmeter is functionally equivalent to the Dual Volume
flowmeter described
above. The TwinPak flowmeter has a modular plug-in chassis and as such, has some
advantages.
It is only necessary to purchase one channel of flow when using the
TwinPak version. This is important if one
only needs to measure one flow or ahs
limited resources.
The modules are compatible with the System 6 Mainframe.
Other modules such as Pressure Amplifiers and EKG Amplifiers can be used with Flow.
The Triton Technology CBI 2-Channel - Model 300-198 can be used as a housing for either of the
Transit Time
Volume flowmeters (Model 300-206 or 300-257). The resulting flowmeter is functionally equivalent
to the Triton
Dual Volume flowmeter described above. The CBI 2-Channel
flowmeter has a modular plug-in chassis and as
such, offers some advantages:
It is only necessary to purchase one channel of flow when using the
2-Channel version. This is important if
one only needs to measure one flow or has
limited resources.
The modules are compatible with the CBI System mainframes.
Other modules such as Pressure Amplifiers and EKG Amplifiers can be used with Flow.
