The Pressure-dP/dt Amplifier Module is a precision bridge transducer amplifier and
regulated 5 volt DC bridge excitation source plus a differentiator and precision
derivative
calibrator. The Model 205 will operate most implanted pressure transducers,
pressure
catheters and extracorporeal gauges.
The Model 205 provides front panel adjustment for bridge balance. Calibration and zero
are
generated with precision internal bridges and are selected with a front panel
RUN/Calibrate
switch. The 'zero' output represents a balanced bridge and the calibrate
position represents
100 mm Hg when used with a 5uV/V/mm Hg sensitivity gauge. The
calibration output
can be used with other gauge sensitivities and the full-scale calibration value will be
inversely
proportional to 5uV/V/mm Hg divided by the actual gauge factor.
The Model 205 provides both instantaneous and mean pressure output signals. The output
signals are controlled by a set of front panel gain and offset controls which make it
possible
to configure the module to drive chart recorders, tape recorders or A/D
converters.
In addition to the pressure outputs, the Pressure-dP/dt Module contains a precision low
noise differentiator with two-pole high frequency cut-off. The differentiator has
independent
front panel gain and offset controls for use with various recording devices.
The Model 205 has a differentiating calibrator which is unique. Internal clock circuits
generate a multiple slope, constant amplitude waveform which is used to calibrate the
dP/dt
output. A front panel selector switch sets calibration steps in units of the
pressure gauge
calibration, either internal bridge or manometer calibration. The
calibration units are in mm
Hg/sec. Independent front panel gain and offset controls set
the dP/dt calibrator output level in order to match to the
pressure calibration signal.
